Acá va la mía... qué nervios, creo que este es el concurso mas lindo en el que he participado (sabes que adoro a Frida):

"Amurallar el propio sufrimiento es arriesgarte a que te devore desde el interior".

un beso!

She's GORGEOUS! I hope I'm the lucky one who wins her!
She said many things that resonate with me, but this is one of my favorites:
“I tried to drown my sorrows, but the bastards learned how to swim, and now I am overwhelmed by this decent and good feeling.”

Thanks for such a cute giveaway!

One of my favorite quotes of Frida's is: "I tried to drown my sorrows, but the bastards learned how to swim, and now I am overwhelmed by this decent and good feeling." I think we spend a lot of time trying to bypass feelings of sorrow and sadness in our lives rather than allowing ourselves to feel them. As an artist, I find that a lot of my work is marked by the intensity of my feelings (whether they be happy or sad). If I don't "feel" my work tends to be flat. To me this of the lovely Frida symbolizes that. Ok, maybe I am being a bit too deep here. Me encanta tanto tu little Frieda brooch! Que arte mas bonita nos regalas! Wow!

oh, EXQUISITE. i am not sure i deserve to win... this is my first time here via sweet sweet life, i fell in love immediately and clicked.

at the moment i'm recovering from a surprise jaunt to the hospital--not to be confused with garnering pity, it's just that my hubs is taking such good care of me, my favorite frida quote at the moment is "i love you more than my own skin".

so glad to be aware now of your amazingness!

Shelley Brown

Hi! You know I LOVE your Fridas!

Pick me, pick me!! From a letter, does it count??

They are so damn 'intellectual' and rotten that I can't stand them anymore....I [would] rather sit on the floor in the market of Toluca and sell tortillas, than have anything to do with those 'artistic' bitches of Paris.

Cara Carmina said...

ha ha ha!!!!! Shelley!!! this is a GREAT phrase!!! (she hated all the snob people that she had to deal with in the "artsy" world!!!) I loved it! thanks and good luck!!!! :)

littlemissdoily said...

how can you go past "I love you more than my own skin"
I am going to start saying that to my beautiful children instead of
'I love you to the moon and back',as it moves me to tears and also teaches them that I also love myself as well as them,
Your dolls are gorgeous,
Frida was such an inspiration, nothing can stop you if you have the desire to create!
thankyou!

Gracias, Carmina, já está no meu blog o link: http://www.madamebeleza.blogspot.com

I have always always adored Frida Kahlo. And what a fun place you have here! I came here today through Sweet Sweet Life. Your Frida's are gorgeous! My favorite Frida quote was in response to people comparing her to the surrealists, "I paint my own reality". I love that.

Hi Norma,
